چکیده
Background The use of robot-assisted surgery for rectal cancer is increasing, but its short-term results remain unclear. We compared the outcomes and laparoscopic using a nationwide inpatient database. Methods analyzed patients registered in Japanese Diagnosis Procedure Combination database who underwent or from April 2018 to March 2020. Postoperative complication rates, anesthesia time, length hospital stay, cost were propensity score matching low anterior resection (LAR), high (HAR), abdominoperineal (APR). Results Among 38 090 cases, 1992 LAR, 357 HAR, 310 APR pairs generated by analyzed. Anesthesia time was longer with (LAR: 388.6 vs. 452.8 min, p < 0.001; HAR: 300.9 393.5 APR: 4478.5 533.5 0.001). Robot-assisted associated significantly shorter stay LAR (22.3 20.0 days, 0.001) (29.2 25.9 = 0.029). Total costs lower (2031511.6 1955216.6 JPY, rates tended be fewer than all procedures, differences not significant. Conclusions Although surgery, procedure resulted APR, surgery. can thus help reduce performed safely.

Laparoscopic rectal cancer surgery.
Barely a century after his publication on surgical technique for rectal cancer, Ernest Miles would have found it surprising that the most vociferous debate is not the pursuit of oncological perfection, but the size of incision. Miles was able to reduce his almost 100 per cent local recurrence rate to less than 50 per cent during his own lifetime through technical refinement1. More recently, and...
متن کاملLaparoscopic surgery for rectal cancer.
Laparoscopic surgery for rectal cancer is much more challenging than that for colon cancer because of the confined space within the pelvis. Further, because of the tumor's location in the pelvis, maintenance of resection margins is of greater concern. Nonrandomized studies by groups experienced in laparoscopic surgery have shown both that it produces short-term outcomes equivalent to those for ...
متن کاملComparison of laparoscopic vs. open surgery for rectal cancer
This study was conducted to evaluate the safety of laparoscopic radical resection for rectal cancer. A total of 64 cases of rectal cancer patients undergoing radical surgery between January, 1998 and March, 2010 were collected. The patients were divided into the laparoscopic rectal surgery group (LS group, n=31) and the open surgery group (OS group, n=33). Operation time, postoperative recovery...

Laparoscopic techniques are now being applied to increasing numbers of general surgical procedures. Technical feasibility, margins, number of lymph nodes, and recurrence rates need to be assessed with the application of this new technique to colon or rectal malignancies. Technically, the right colon, sigmoid, and proximal rectum appear to be the most amenable to laparoscopic assisted or complet...
متن کاملOutcomes Following Surgery for Distal Rectal Cancers: A Comparison between Laparoscopic and Open Abdomino-Perineal Resection.
PURPOSE Oncologic outcomes following laparoscopic abdomino-perineal resection (APR) for distal rectal cancer are infrequently reported. This study aims to compare the long term outcomes between laparoscopic and open APR in distal rectal cancers. METHODS A retrospective review of all patients who underwent APR for distal rectal cancer from May 2001 to November 2009 was performed. RESULTS For...
